High School Guidance
College Application Process
The Guidance Department looks forward to assisting you with the college application process. In order for the Guidance Department to effectively assist students and their families with the college application process, several things must be kept in mind.
- The student is required to submit a completed Transcript Request Form to their guidance counselor in accordance with the QRHS deadline schedule below. Please read it carefully and include all information that is pertinent to the application including the address where the transcript must be sent and sign it at the bottom.
- When planning for a January 1 or 15 college deadline, it is critical that the QRHS deadline is met as the guidance counselors are not at the High School during the December holiday break.
- When applying to colleges with rolling admissions, it is important to apply as soon as possible to be eligible for housing and financial aid, if applicable.
- QRHS Guidance Department will submit official transcript packets to colleges as requested. Supplemental forms, required by some colleges, will be sent with this packet if the student has attached them to and indicates in the space provided on the Transcript Request Form.
- Official transcript packets may include letters of recommendation if requested on the Transcript Request Form. The Guidance Office must receive letters of recommendation two weeks before the college deadline. It is critical that the student gives the writer of his or her recommendation an adequate amount of time to write the letter. We suggest a minimum of two weeks.
- The student is responsible for submitting the completed college application and applications fees directly to the college, by mail or online. Remember, download and submit all forms when applying online.
QRHS Transcript Request Forms are available online, in the High School Guidance Office, and in the Career Center - Room H117.
